Silly Drawings/Long Post
Jun. 3rd, 2006 07:47 amThis is gonna be the only post in a while because I'm going to London for a few days with Ade. Unless I decide to do the Illustration Friday topic this week.

Its mostly images from my sketchbook:
There's only one image of the bugs from my sketchbook today. The rest is Old Harry's Game. Ha...these look really silly.

Ade mentioned that this blog is becoming my production diary of sorts. I never really thought of it that way, but I suppose he's right. I can look back on it and learn from it. Before I continue much further with the actual rough animation, maybe I should talk more about the character design side of things. After all, I DO want to be a character designer.
Baring my soul, here's the first ever drawing I did of Satan and Scumpsawn:

Scary huh? Its kind of embarrassing showing this...especially if Andy is watching!
They kind of evolved further...

Satan had this weird spade shaped head. Scumspawn had a big nose.
Ade said "make scumspawn look more gentlemanly" So I messed about til he had a long looking regal nose, which I think is funnier, because Scumspawn's character is anything but regal.

I think in doing so he started to look more like Robert Duncan, which was cool.

Gary was a surprise, because I had no idea what the actor Steven O'Donnell (voice of gary) looked like when I first drew him. It was pretty cool to see how similar they look...a happy accident.

All the characters kinda looked like the voices they portray, except Andy Hamilton perhaps.

Well....maybe a little.
