Well, I sure had an awesome time. But I have to admit that my ears feel pretty bashed after Tuesday night. I was a bit freaked out that when I had breakfast last morning I would hear a ringing sound with each chew.
But I had an awesome time just the same.
To the guy I stood up in front of at the very start of the gig who told me "'would you mind sitting down...sorry about that. I haven't been to many gigs and even though I was in seating, people usually stand anyway. So thats what I did because I thought everyone was going to.
Anyway, it was so amazing when the screens came up and everything was bathed in purple light. Lost Keys sounded beautiful. The band came on stage one by one. Maynard popped out near the start of Rosetta Stoned, looking for all the world like a hedgehog-man with a beer belly. He danced around comically a lot, and ended Rosetta Stoned with ''hello silly english types!!'' ala Monty Python. My favorite songs were the last three, which was surprising because I was most looking forward to Jambi. Not that Jambi wasn't awesome. I think the highlight for me was lateralus, everyone was really into it. I stood up during Aenima because the guys behind me were standing up by then anyway. I couldn't help myself. I had to move around. It was catharic.
Danny's drum solo was awesome. He had an ethnic looking drum behind him.
After Jambi Maynard said something like ''Did you enjoy the sunshine? well god is pissing down on you now."
I like rain...that was definetely NOT a benevolent sun...whew!
and: ''are any of you coming tommorrow? We'll be telling the exact same jokes. I'm not fucking changing them for you.''
Please note that the following photos were NOT TAKEN BY ME. They are from the same show but I do not take credit for them. If someone would like me to remove them I will do so without question.

It was surprising being at a gig where everyone in the stalls sat down. I know a lot of people are saying that people just wanted to sit down and watch the show, so fair enough if thats what you were doing, but I have to say I was pissed off about sitting behind a guy and his teenage daughter. She was texting on her mobile throughout the ENTIRE show. I could even read what some of it said ''lol watching tool'' You could tell the poor guy was wondering why he had shelled out tickets so his brat daughter could ignore the entire performence. They didn't even stay for the last two songs...good riddance! Also some guy who stood right in the middle of the aisles during Schism got dragged away after several warnings from security. I waved at him when he got led out.
That was the only bad thing about the gig. Well, that and I'm a bit freaked out about my ears. I'm definetely wearing earplugs at my next gig. I'll also post better pictures of the gig if I can find them. The Hammersmith is a stellar venue. At the end of the gig I realized how drained and sweaty I was. But I also felt great. I'd been pretty tense the few days before with my OCD and the concert let it all out. Thanks Tool!
