I often seek inspiration from real people when animating characters. Its a bit difficult when i'm making puppets for stop motion, but in drawn animation you can sneak all sorts of references in and no ones the wiser.

Having said that, I'm having trouble with Thomas. Those of you who know Old Harry's Game know that Thomas is voiced by Jimmy Mulville.





I have trouble animating Thomas, because though I know who Jimmy Mulville is, I don't have that many pics of him, and he's not really a jerk is he? I need references to actors who are devious and oily. Can you guys think of any famous people who can be oily jerks? Remember, Thomas sold his grandmother organ by organ to Dewhursts.
I'll give you an example of what I'm trying to do with Thomas by using Satan.

Satan was the easiest character to design. Andy Hamilton's voice was made for animation, not to mention I can sneak physical characteristics of Andy in without making it too obvious. The eyebrows for example.





Not all Satan's look came from studying Andy though. I slipped in a bit of Bill Hicks and Keith Richards(yarrr. he's good fer more than jes Pirate reference.





So, I kind of want to do that with Thomas. Suggestions?
Oh yeah,and we saw Pooperman returns tonight. Can you tell I didn't like it much?

I redid a scene today because I wasn't happy with the first version I did.
