Tool MEN arena 24/11/06
Nov. 25th, 2006 08:38 pmDamn. Screw the pictures on my phone. They are so blurry. I didn't take ANY of the following pictures, they are from various people on flickr, but are the same gig. If anyone wants me to remove them I will do so without question.
This was the best concert I've ever been to incidentally, and my first standing gig. I went with
evillottie who let me kip over at hers. cheers!:)
Set List:
Stinkfist
46 and 2
Jambi
Schism
Lost Keys
Rosetta Stoned
The Pot
Wings for Marie
10,000 Days
Lateralus
Vicarious
Aenima
I quite liked standing. We got into the arena halfway through Mastodon's set. I really liked them.
wingedwolf_2004 would have loved the artwork they had on their banner, adorned with deer, wolves and various things, as you can see from the pics below. I bought their album the day after.
Tool came on about 45 mins after with Maynard wearing a ridiculously bright orange hoody. It reminded me of Clementine from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. During The Pot, Danny Carey's shoe flew off and Maynard stopped the song to mock him and say "Didn't your mother ever teach you to tie your shoes properly."
Just before Wings for Marie the stage went dark and maynard lit a lighter and held it up in memory of his mom. A sea of lighters appeared in the crowd. It looked like a vigil. Then they played the song and a green laser show accompanied it. That was awesome, apart from a scally in front of me talking really loudly towards the end. Wanker.
I could see over people's heads through most of the gig, but during the last two songs people packed tighter and tighter together and we had this 6 foot guy in front of us. I didn't mind too much though, I just enjoyed the music and sang along. I think
evillottie belly danced during Vicarious.
Incidentally, My back hurt when I left the house, but got better on the train, so I was able to jump around and headbang that night..yay.
But I feel stiff today...ow.
