Io moths of Belize
May. 30th, 2010 12:19 pmThis is what I've been working on most of the weekend. From left to right: Automeris montezuma, Automeris belti, Automeris banus, Automeris zozine, Automeris io.
I have an Io moth story, though not a very nice one. Once, when my mum was gardening she closed her hand around an automeris caterpillar. The spines left an imprint of the shape in her hand and according to her the sting was very painful for hours. Thankfully we never had an encounter with one again, but we saw them often.
